I Dream of Cereal

Ryan Alexiev's work was recently brought to my attention.
He is at once aware, plugged in, creative and very talented,
don't you agree?.

Real or fake? Does it really matter? Do we really have a choice?
Well, we do have a choice of channels, news shO’s, between Trix
and Froot Loops, and to hear about Britney’s latest
or the invasion of Iraq. The choices are infinite, If not,
they are certainly colorful and textured in their two-dimensionality.

The subject of the original (pre Borat) cereal mosaic,
Pamela Anderson embodies the created self, the consumer fantasy made flesh.
She desired to be – and became – what we desire to consume.
Product and consumer in perfect harmony: our golden goddess.

His  artwork explores the ramifications and effects of consumerism,
globalization, and the moral nature of progress
upon traditional social-cultural values and symbols.

Let's keep in touch, shall we?

On a similar but different note...

Van Gogh’s Starry Night in Cereal

This is impressive: A group of 150 high school students in Utah have created a 6,400-square-foot replica of Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night out of two tons breakfast cereal — Malt-O-Meal to be exact. It took them almost a week to complete the entire thing; a plastic sheet with an outline of the design dictated which colors went where. via Flavorwire
