It's Thursday- Make It Spicy

Ok, it's Thursday- gateway to the week end
so how about a little spice, just a little.
It has stopped raining here so we're gonna
hit the bbq and grill a little chicken- clip a few herbs
and some evoo, lemon and chile flakes
 (spicy- remember?)
With that in mind I found this great recipe for
Chile Roasted Cauliflower with Cilantro Dressing
1 head cauliflower
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
1/2 small bunch cilantro (leaves and delicate stems), roughly chopped
2 small cloves garlic. roughly chopped
For directions visit here.
The ingredients are a perfect combination-
 fresh and spicy.
Now a cocktail along the same lines
(remember, it's Thursday)

How about one called
Cool as a Cucumber.
This has all of the right components-
white rum, cucumber, lime and cilantro,
there is even a suggestion (taking it!)
to kick it up with some red chiles.
Check out the recipe at Drink of the week!

Now for those of you who insist on going out on Thursday,

and keep it spicy, how about the new
Puerto Rican restaurant in the Haight...

 Parada 22

The food was great!  I had the Cuban Sandwich which was fantastic,
My friend's steak was succulent goodness.
The mango and guava drinks were light and refreshing and perfect for the sunny day.
I ordered Pernil, roasted pork, and the plate came with a salad,
fried sweet banana, rice, and beans.  So tender and comforting.
The sandwich was sublime -- smoky, sweet, and perfectly balanced
The highlight of the meal was the beans.  The red ones were cooked with pork,
the white beans with a vegetable/oregano sofrito, and both were exquisite:
 soft, savory, comforting, smoky-tasting.
